FANCY COLOR GRADE
In contrast to white diamonds, color grade is the single most important factor to consider when purchasing a rare fancy color diamond. The rarity and value of this type of diamond depends on the color intensity.
Fancy color diamonds are graded in order of increasing intensity from Faint, Very Light, Light, Fancy Light, Fancy Intense, Fancy Vivid, Fancy Dark and Fancy Deep.

CARAT WEIGHT
Fancy color diamonds are weighed in units of a metric carat (ct). One metric carat is just over .007 ounce.
After color intensity (also known as "color grade"), carat weight comes in second as having the most impact on a fancy diamond's price. Fancy color diamonds tend to be smaller than their colorless counterparts, usually weighing less than a carat. For this reason, their prices rise exponentially as the weight increases. On the bright side, one will find that even smaller well cut stones can display intensely beautiful colors.
Carat weight is an obvious factor in determining the value of a fancy color diamond. However, two fancy diamonds of equal carat weight can have very different prices, usually depending on their color grade.
CLARITY
Clarity is often a less important factor when choosing a fancy color diamond. While larger inclusions may detract from a fancy color diamond's beauty, most are masked or partially hidden depending on the fancy diamond's color.
At Firenze Jewels, we NEVER sell clarity enhanced fancy diamonds. You can be certain that you will only purchase a 100% natural diamond that has never been artificially treated in any way.
CUT
Cut describes the balanced arrangement of facets and ability to make the best use of light. Fancy diamonds are masterfully cut in a way that maximizes the stone's color intensity and beauty. This is in contrast to colorless diamonds where the goal is to minimize any traces of color.
The most important characteristic considered when a fancy diamond is cut, is its color.
